What a crazy week. I have been sick and cranky and emotional and if you have been around me at all, my apologies. I think I’ve been doing pretty well with the mourning process, generally speaking, but then when anything else goes wrong I totally freaking lose it.

Thinking about it, i’m pretty sure i have two primary flavors of cranky: the kind where I curl up and refuse to do anything, and the kind where i do extreme housecleaning and throw everything that’s been annoying me in life out the window. I don’t mind the second kind so much because it usually results in positive changes, but I’ve been there for a little while now, and i’m a little concerned about the momentum. I’ve been kicking a lot of ass in the semi-important things just because i have absolutely no control over the super-important ones. the hope is that this energy redirection is more productive than the alternative, but we’ll see about that.

It just occurred to me that I may feel guilty about my modest successes this month because it feels like making the first boat as a freshman, an achievement that resulted in me almost failing out of school before i had a chance to develop any reasonable study habits. This is so different, obviously, because my biggest concerns currently really need to work themselves out without my intervention, and i know that.

it is really a pain in my ass that knowing something logically does not at all guarantee that i will feel it emotionally. and now I would like to stop vomiting all over the internet. so, gogo facts!

here are some generic things that have happened/are happening/will happen:

  • I finally passed my emissions inspection and sometime before the end of this month i need to convince someone not to make me pay the state $250 for being late with that.
  • My lease ends on the 29th but I can’t move into my next place until the 3rd. this is semi problematic, but considering that i once moved all my belongings to an apartment 2 miles away without the assistance of a vehicle, it probably won’t be the worst move i’ve ever had.
  • I was able to extend my time in my current apartment until the 2nd, which is better than nothing, but the next tenants aren’t interested in making my life super convenient by moving in later in the day, so that’s kind of a bummer.
  • Speaking of the next tenants, whatever. I hope those bitches like catalogs, because somehow the secret’s gotten out that I can’t stop spending money on the internet and i get like 18 a day.
  • I am considering a major career move. I’ve decided to wait to make an informed decision, but I’m not willing to wait very long, so if you’ve been sitting in your office wishing you could hire me, now would be a fantastic time to get in touch.
  • Tracey and I are going to honduras next month. I’m meeting her in miami on st patrick’s day and we’re getting our hair done by this miracle of a woman named yvette before going to the beach where i will not bring my laptop or even think about doing work.
  • (but when i come back i will do lots of work and it will be amazing so if you are one of those rogue geek rustlers i was speaking to above, you should disregard the previous note)

i think that’s it for now.

in today’s final segment, im pretty sure that wikihow, the how-to-do-everything wiki, is the funniest site on the internet right now. I mean, it doesn’t strive to be funny, it just is. Virtually no topic goes uncovered; wikihow will try to teach you how to feel beautiful, or, if you’re sort of a lost cause, at least how to come to terms with feeling ugly. And that’s only the beginning!

Other wikihow greats include how to stay positive when you know your life sucks (which is really more about staying positive when you think you suck, and therefore was not as useful to me as i might have hoped), how to become the most stylish girl in school, how to act like a mermaid (?), how to tame a feral cat, and for those of you who loves you some memorly, how to succeed in a relationship with the perfect girl (jusssstttt kiddddinnnng). The pages are all either helpful or hilariously stupid, but either way it’s worth a look.

ok internet, real life is calling. until next time!

  4. I am not so crazy about the idea of your going to Honduras…I know a great beach on Captiva Island in Fla—you and your friend would love..and you don’t need shots to go there….Please go to the doctor and get the shots if you are really going to HOnduras and BTW you really ought to see their landing strip before you fly there…ask Uncle Al for the link
