hello internet,
I’m sorry; it’s been a while. The last week has been pretty rough. But enough about that.
I went to the State Fair with David this weekend. I promised my parents I’d take pictures with the new camera (which is wonderful, by the way), but I think I should have brought a tape recorder instead. The south is a crazy, crazy place. I’ll post pictures and bear wrestling videos soon.
In other news, I saw the Prestige this weekend. If you are inclined to see it, I would suggest that you try to catch The Illusionist instead. The plotlines are almost identical, as are the rating, quality of acting, etc. I don’t think the Illusionist was marketed very well, but the plot was a lot better. The Prestige is pretty, but it really tried too hard to be deep in a way that seemed pretentious and made me uncomfortable. If you want an amusing, light film and can handle watching Esquire’s Sexiest Woman of 2005 instead of their Sexiest Woman of 2006, I would definitely check out The Illusionist. If you want something more serious, challenging, deeper—-I’d suggest another movie entirely. I won’t talk more about them because I don’t want to spoil anything; if you’ve seen both and want to debate The Prestige’s merit—bring it.
Also, John is my favorite for linking to my blog post about why Camera Works of Durham is the worst camera shop ever. Hahahahaha, we are shameless Google whores.
