good god…some people are not being very nice to me this week. but it’s ok. i’m ok. i know stress brings out the worst in people, myself included, and the craziness is almost over so i’m not taking it too personally. yet.
rachel is in town for the full frame festival and staying with me for the weekend. it’s funny to stay with someone you used to live with; the dynamic is always so different from staying with anyone else. last week, i caught myself going to the bathroom to change my clothes when i realized tracey has seen me in my underwear more than probably any other person, so that’s kind of dumb. it’s nice though—much less stressful to have guests who already know all your domestic quirks.
in my last post, i had a list of eleven things i needed to do as soon as possible. since my whole life lately feels like action items and agendas, i figure it’s time for a status update:
1. new license – on the way!
2. buy table and chairs – done!
3. taxes – ren, david, and i are having a Tax Party tomorrow, because we’re very cool, so…pending!
4. new camera – done!
5. post pictures of bird – done (see below)!
6. name bird – lol halp!
7. find spanish class – all the classes in durham have already started but i’m doing free lessons online until new ones start up so it’s ok!
8. computer situation – stalemate!
9. air filter – pending!
10. forwarded mail – gradually, as i’m forced to!
11. side projects – never end!
exclamation points mean that i am happy and full of progress!
so as promised, here are some pictures with the new camera (you can see a couple others on flickr if you want)

my bird, on teh interwebs for the very first time.

hey! give me a name!

and my kitchen table, which i got for TWENTY-FIVE DOLLARS on craigslist. can you see why it was only $25? yeah neither can i. i win.
i took some videos too, but those will have to be posted another night.
because i am very big on documenting ends of eras, i must report that i have only one more serving of the two tubs’ worth of stroh’s ice cream chris and pete brought. as a result, i am feeling a.) sad, and b.) fat. my neighbor’s friend had some of the Better Made potato chips and was quoted as saying, “are these potato chips from detroit too? they’re the best potato chips i’ve ever had in my life”. in summary, michigan’s the place whence all truly wondrous things come. also, i saw redpop (!) in a gas station in honduras (!) and i can’t believe it took me three posts to tell you that.
ok, time for bed for this girl. my next post may be less disjointed, but no promises.
Go Mary on the table/chairs!
Have you considered doing some Rosetta stone programs for Spanish? Seem to work pretty well :-x
My suggestion for the birds name…Nixie.
— Chris Apr 7, 01:25 AM [link]Actually nixie is kinda catchy. Is it a blue fronted amazon? I’d be tempted to name it Pat or some variation. it seems like a good bird name but maybe its just locked in my memory, he was a cool bird. It may not fit so well for a female though.
Kudos on the table! craigslist: 100, everything else:0
It works pretty well there. In fact, for my next place I’m really aiming to have a table to eat at, its just so much more civilized than on a couch in front of the tv.
Did you mean the air filter on your truck? (-5 points for me for not checking that last time) Good luck with the taxes (they’re infinately easier with a very modest income and no real assets, ten minutes should do it for me lol) on the plus side you’ll probably be getting your stimulus check soon (make sure you blow it on something stupid to help fix the economy) Will you be setting up your desktop at the apartment?
Anyways Ive gotta go, Steve is back in the US and I’m at work. You scored 10,000 points for winning at life but lose 500 for any possible iteration of “interwebs”
PS: something for check out, in the comments name and email address fields the text is an invisible color (I’m on a PC with firefox 2.0.0.13) just a heads up.
— Pete Apr 7, 01:41 PM [link]nah, it’s a senegal parrot. i figured a mid-sized bird was about all i could handle at this point in my life. i sure love amazons, though.
nixie is a cute name. to be revealed!
— memorly Apr 7, 01:47 PM [link]Your bird is a very brilliant green. I looked up green on the internet and it said, “Green is life. Abundant in nature, green signifies growth, renewal, health, and environment. On the flip side, green is jealousy or envy (green-eyed monster) and inexperience.”
Anyway.. My suggestion is Jesus.
— Brett Apr 8, 01:14 AM [link]I had a green Nanday named patrick o parrot…it seemed to fit him and me….just a thought….love, uncle jim
— uncle jim Apr 8, 11:12 PM [link]Love the pics…the bird is cute…if not Pat how about Tap..Tappie you could try to teach him to tap dance…I LOVE the table and the cute kitchen…
— Aunt Anne Apr 9, 12:39 AM [link]wow… with all those points pete’s handing out, im not sure if on memorly or ‘Who’s Line is it Anyway?’
Kudos on the progress (gotta love that feeling, eh?) and on the dinner table. I’ve gotta learn to love CL more.
Oh, and for the bird… I’m down for Pat, but in the event its a girl… why not Emma/Emmy? Shes definately got that emerald green thing going on. Or, maybe, in the event its a dude, just stick with Em. And watch his head bounce whenever he catches some ambient rap music.
— steve Apr 9, 03:03 PM [link]I think I’m partial to Nixie. It holds some sentimental value and, face it, it’s just a gosh darn cute name for a little bird!
